Description/Job Summary

Position Overview

This person is responsible for inventory of packaging, raw materials and various production and office supplies as well as placing orders with suppliers. Completing purchase requests and purchase orders as needed and getting the required approvals prior to ordering. Receiving into inventory delivered items, resolve any problems that pertain to purchase orders that prevents AP from making payments, assisting the Purchasing Manager as needed.


Essential Job Functions

  • Research past due orders and inquire with vendors on orders

  • Maintain records, files, catalogs, price lists, delivery information and inventories for current and potential vendors

  • Back up Purchasing Manager as needed

  • Review and verify invoices from suppliers for conformance to purchase orders regarding price, quantity, discounts and other information

  • Negotiate best possible pricing terms obtain 3 bids before making a purchase

  • Enter Purchase Requisitions and purchase orders

  • Utilize company procedures, policies and guidelines while purchasing material.

  • Complete annual RFQ for reoccurring purchases and evaluate potential new suppliers

  • Follow up on late deliveries as needed

  • Maintain current supplier information in the AS400

  • Participate in continuous improvements activities and provide suggestions for cost reduction and improved efficiency

    Product Safety

  • Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations ofInteplast Group

  • Actively participate in the company safety culture



  • High School Diploma or GED required, relevant two year technical degree preferred

  • One (2) years of office experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have the ability to create spreadsheets.

  • Ability to communicate with co-workersin all departments as well as customers

  • Type 40 wpm, Accurate calculator/10 key, Strong communication skills, oral and written, Strong computer skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, Strong attention to detail, Multi task oriented, Ability to analyze and make competent decisions independently.




Other Skills/Abilities


  • Fundamental knowledge of Buying/Purchasing principles and practices

  • AS400 experience

  • Microsoft office and various other office equipment
