Description/Job Summary

Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools by performing the following duties.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manages employees in performing electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists employees in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Directs employees engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Requisitions and maintains proper supply of spare parts.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Interprets company policies for employees as necessary and enforces safety regulations.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders and assigns duties to employees as appropriate.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of plant, department, and/or work crew.
  • Analyzes work problems/issues and assists employees in resolving them.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of employees supervised when necessary.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                 
Manages employees in the Maintenance Department and Facilities Maintenance. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                                                
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; plus 5 years of maintenance experience within a regulated plastics injection/blow-molding environment in a supervisory/manager capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Language Skills                                             
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
Reasoning Ability                                                      
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Computer Skills                                             
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge MS Office, including Excel, Word & Outlook.  Should also have knowledge of SAP or a similar preventative maintenance database.
