IMMEDIATE OPENINGS - Stating at $12.00

Candidates for Production Operators must have previous manufacturing/mechanical experience.   

Reports to: Production Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor/Section Leader   
erator Career Path – Pitt Plastics, Inc. provides the opportunity for progression through operator levels.  

  • Level 1 - introductory period operator, first 60 days of employment
  • Level 2 - after 60 days of employment.  Upon successful completion of Level 2 testing employees are eligible to move through levels 3 through 6. Employees who successfully pass this level testing become eligible to apply for other positions within the company. 
  • Level 3 and Level 3 Trainer – eligible to test for this level after 60 days of employment and successful completion of Level 2 testing.  
  • Level 4  – eligible to test for this position after successful completion of Level 3 requirements.

Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses.

Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe operations.

Production and Processing - Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of goods.

Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic. ( multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, and measurements)

English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Experience and Education:

  • Education - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • Experience – Prefer previous work experience with machines in a manufacturing setting.

Essential Job Functions and Abilities:

  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hands together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, lift, manipulate or assemble objects. (many duties require hand over hand movement) (frequently)
  • Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands.
  • Must be able to see in low light conditions, hear, and speak clearly. 
  • Ability to stand and change positions frequently over an eight-hour period.
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. (Lifting requirements up to and including 50 lbs)  (frequently)  Must be able to balance rolls of plastic up to 300 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and or legs. Must be able to reach and lift up to 50 lbs above shoulders (frequently) reaching above head (occasionally), stooping (occasionally), twisting (occasionally), and bending at waist (occasionally).
  • Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles repeatedly or continuously to lift objects.  (frequently)
  • Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.  
  • Ability to work in an environment that is extremely hot, humid in the summer months, and cold in the winter months.
