Description/Job Summary

POSITION OBJECTIVE
This business manufactures food contact re-closable plastic bags, which require adherence to GMP, and SQA standards as defined by customer requirements. This position will assist in developing, implementing, directing and auditing the Quality Assurance & Compliance Program designed to ensure continuous production of re-closable plastic bags consistent with Minigrip standards and customer requirements. Maintain plant-wide adherence to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Code, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Standards, Custom Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other regulatory requirements. Adhere to and enforce the Minigrip Statement of Principles of Conduct, Harassment Policy and all other company policies. The major challenges to this position are ensuring that defective product is caught prior to shipping, execute and maintain effective communication between QA and production, and working within customer requirements. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree or 5+ years equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience maintaining a quality system in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Experience in Technical writing skills (SOP’s, Work Instructions, Specifications)
  • Understand and apply Root Cause Analysis
  • Experience working with HACCP, ISO 9000, Safety, Health, and Environment and GMP processes
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (processes, terminology)
  • Experience with auditors and customers in an audit environment
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and computer-based training software
  • Willing to train groups of people
  • Willing  to make decisions based on company policies and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Administer and maintain a quality assurance program
  • Coordinate and participate in internal audits as required by the Annual QA Plan
  • Coordinate and participate in monthly and annual training and safety according to company policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and participate in Mock Recalls as required by Annual QA Plan
  • Coordinate and participate in analyzing statistical data, product and process specifications to determine present standards
  • Coordinate and participate in corrective action requests (CAR) and customer complaints follow-up
  • Audit the duties of a Facilities Maintenance (FM) technician
  • Audit the duties of a contract cleaning company
  • Follow through on correcting plant deficiencies found during audits
  • Coordinate plant-wide adherence to housekeeping standards, GMP, and customer initiated quality assurance standards
  • Actively participate in the prove-in of new processes, products, and equipment and the development of new or revised quality specifications and procedures for these changes according to customer requirements
  • Assist in preparing external audits from customers (2nd party) or certification body
  • Understand the CTPAT and its application to the business
  • Understand the HACCP and its application to the business
  • Be familiar and adhere to Safe Quality Food (SQF) code elements
  • Communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Assist by summarizing weekly/monthly reports (or assigned task) that are required from each Quality Specialist (QC) functional area.
  • Assist by trending and presenting data from QC functional area into value-added results for management review
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
