Description/Job Summary

The Material Control Coordinator is responsible for planning raw material usage in production by coordinating the purchasing, usage, and reporting of raw material.  Must be able to find, analyze and report variances and accurately report inventories on a monthly basis. 
  • Ensures in advance sufficient raw materials are available to produce scheduled campaigns through the use of extrusion schedule, product formulations, and packaging specifications.
  • Coordinate unloading of railcars with Railcar Attendants to ensure desired materials are delivered as needed to designated silos and to verify each compartment is emptied.
  • Coordinate the filling of super sacks from railcars as needed.
  • Coordinate receiving of imported materials in sea bilk containers and/or small bags.
  • Maintain a daily balance of resin usage between production reported and actual inventory.
  • Find causes of material variances; ensure proper codes are being used in extrusion and system.
  • Maintain inventory control of all raw material.
  • Inventory materials for physical inventory as required.
  • Assist with implementation of real-time boxed/bagged resin consumption system.
  • Investigate and correct any instance of raw material contamination.
  • Ensure materials are properly stored to prevent damage, property loss and/or unsafe conditions.
  • Put into practice a continuous improvement program.
  • Generate reports as requested.
  • Coordinate sales of scrap rolls, film, recycled pallets.
  • Coordinate with railroad personnel on delivery/spotting of railcars.
  • Other duties as assigned by Plant Office Manager.

Required Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Good computer skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, phone skills, math skills
  • Fork truck certified (preferred)
  • Work outside building as needed
  • Ability to analyze variances between systems and production
  • Willing to work overtime as directed
