Description/Job Summary

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Sales 

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for activities of assigned strategic accounts including but not limited to existing account maintenance, new client generation, strategic planning.
  • Assists in the development of annual strategic account team forecast budget
  • As needed; Effectively communicate information among entire sales organization
  • Assist with the identification of prospective customers through effective industry networking, participation in organizations and clubs, and attending national trade shows and conferences.
  • Contact regular and prospective customers to demonstrate products, explain product features, and solicit orders.
  • Identify new target markets based on industry trends and customers' needs and interests
  • Create selling and product strategy based on analyses of customers' needs, and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations
  • Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales
  • Position involves up to 70 percent travel
 
Knowledge:
  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product innovation, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.   This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Computers and Electronics — Proficiency in the latest technologies including computer software, use of the Internet and cell phones.
  • Clerical — Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.

  • Negotiation — Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences
 Experience and Education:  
  • College Degree Preferred but less formal education and more on-the-job experience may be substituted
  • Previous work in sales or sales related field a plus.

  • Time Sharing - The ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources).
  • Attention to Detail - Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
  • Dependability - Job requires being reliable, responsible, and dependable, and fulfilling obligations.
  • Independence - Job requires developing one's own ways of doing things, guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending on oneself to get things done.
  • Cooperation - Integrity - Job requires being honest and ethical.
